Kale
This dark, leafy green vegetable seems to be all the rage right now, and for good reasons. Kale is high in fiber, low in calories and rich in Vitamins A and C. Vitamin C in particular gives skin its elastic, firm quality. Add kale to your salad or sandwich to get your regular dose of this superfood.
Blueberries
Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins, antioxidants that help prevent signs of aging by keeping the skin firm and supple. These fruits are also high in vitamin C. The great thing about blueberries is that they can easily be added to meals. Try sprinkling blueberries over yogurt, oatmeal or cereal, or adding it to your breakfast smoothie.
Coconut Oil
The beauty of coconut oil is that it can be used topically as well as for cooking. Coconut oil has long been used in body lotions and as a body oil for its creamy texture and hydrating qualities. As for cooking, use coconut oil as you would olive oil to enjoy its antioxidant benefits.
Flaxseed
Flaxseeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation and help keep skin moisturized. Not consuming enough omega-3s can lead to dry skin and even wrinkling. Try sprinkling flaxseeds on oatmeal, soup or even over a salad.
Açaí Berries
Açaí berries are another superfood with high levels of anthocyanins, which help keep the skin healthy and blemish-free. Açaí berries can also reduce swelling and inflammation, making it particularly beneficial for people who have skin conditions like acne, eczema and psoriasis. Add a small batch of açaí berries in your smoothies or juices.
