About Neuromodulators
Both Botox and Dysport are neuromodulators, they temporarily pause the communication between nerves and muscles.
Both of these injectables are composed of botulinum toxin which is highly effective for the correction of moderate to severe facial lines.
Both Botox and Dysport provide natural-looking wrinkle-prevention and require little to no preparation or downtime!
What is Botox?
Botox is a neuromuscular blocker that temporarily inhibits muscle contraction for up to three months, preventing these dynamic wrinkle lines from forming. Botox can help correct the deep furrows between your eyebrows, the lines across your forehead, and the lines next to your eyes. By selectively targeting specific facial muscles, Botox can help raise your eyebrows giving a more youthful arch, improve your smile, and correct the banding of your neck muscles. This lifting effect of Botox is often referred to as a “chemical facelift.”
Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating in your armpits, hands, and feet. It is also effective at providing some relief to patients that suffer from chronic migraine headaches.
What is Dysport?
Dysport’s active ingredients pauses muscle contractions that cause wrinkles.
Dysport is very similar to Botox. The formula consists of botulinum toxin and reduces the appearance of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles on the face. This treatment is easily administered and requires no downtime. In the months following a treatment session, the no new wrinkles will form and the skin’s smooth, youthful appearance is preserved. Patients who undergo Dysport injections often choose this treatment to eliminate the wrinkles between their eyebrows. These particular wrinkles may cause the face to appear constantly angry, tired, or surprised. Alleviating these lines will relax your face and help you appear younger and well-rested.
Dysport Vs Botox
Both Dysport and Botox can be administered at our office and require no downtime.
Both of these injectables are neurotoxins composed of botulinum toxin. The botulinum toxin in Botox is safely synthesized and FDA-approved to correct facial lines and wrinkles, which helps your face look years younger! Both formulas are administered with precision to target the underlying facial muscles that create wrinkles. By relaxing these muscles, the skin above them remains smooth. Both treatments offer a better, near-instantaneous solution compared to over-the-counter facial creams and serums.
Dysport is approved to treat the lines between the eyebrows while Botox can treat forehead lines, crow’s feet and the lines between the eyebrows.
Each treatment lasts about the same amount of time, however, Dysport is faster-acting than Botox. With Dysport, you will see your results sooner. Botox results are often seen after about a week.
Your Consultation – Our Goal
Dr. Michaels’ goal is to give you a natural, relaxed, and youthful appearing face, not one that is frozen and emotionless. During your consultation, Dr. Michaels will carefully listen to your concerns, evaluate your face both at rest and in motion, and then tailor a treatment plan that will allow you to achieve your goals. Botox will help correct the dynamic lines of your face that are caused by muscle contraction.
On average, Botox takes 3-5 days to work and the results last an average of three months.
If you have lines on your face that persist when your face is at rest, Botox alone may not provide a complete correction to this area. It is not uncommon to require both Botox and a facial filler (Juvéderm or Restylane) to achieve a full correction in these cases. Botox will prevent further deepening of the wrinkle by inhibiting the muscle and the facial filler will add volume to the wrinkle to improve its appearance at rest. Also, for patients who require a more complete rejuvenation, Dr. Michaels performs facelift surgery and neck lift.
