With advancing age, gravity and relaxation of ligaments of mid-face lead to a descent of cheek. This has two major effects, a loss of volume in the region where the lower eyelid meets the cheek (the nasojugal fold or “tear trough”) and deepening of the folds of skin at the junction of the face and lip (nasolabial fold).
A mid-facelift can help restore the volume to your cheek and soften your nasolabial folds. During your consultation at his office, Dr. Michaels will evaluate your degree of brow descent. Dr. Michaels has several techniques to restore the position of your mid-face. The technique chosen will depend on the degree of mid-face descent. In many cases, a mid-facelift is performed at the same time and through the same incision as lower eyelid lift. For patients who require more extensive rejuvenation, Dr. Michaels also performs facelift surgery.
Depending on the degree of lift necessary to meet your unique needs, Dr. Michaels can perform your procedure under local anesthesia in his office. This has the added benefits of no additional anesthesia or hospital costs and a quicker recovery.
